CMMI for Outsourcing
Does your organization acquire large systems or services? Do you work closely with an Outsource partner? If the answer to any of these is yes then you will be glad that CMMI for Acquisition is finally out of the bag.
CMMI-ACQ is a variant of the existing CMMI-DEV but with several critical differences designed to address the role of the Acquiring organization. In addition its designed to
- provide you a framework for improving your processes so you can get the most out of your Outsource Partner or from the organisations from whom you are acquiring systems or services.
- it helps you build a consistent approach to doing business
- lets you identify where to start improving and where to stop
- incorporates the practices designed to ensure that best practice becomes common practice
- allows you to assess your organisation to ensure that practices are really embedded as planned
CMMI-ACQ acknowledges the nature of the Acquirer / Supplier relationship and gives the Acquiring party the tools to improve their performance to match that of their supplier. In other words it allows the Acquirer to match capabilities with their supplier to help assure the success of the relationship.
CMMI for Acquisition has been created by the SEI under the sponsorship of the DOD and comprises a distillation of countless years of acquisition experience across government and the supply chain.
